When developing applications with Delphi environment, there may be a need for you to connect to Oracle database. dbExpress driver for Oracle
provides a fast solution for that purpose, and is not dependent on any external clients, or data access layers.
It is distributed as an independent Oracle connectivity
component, which provides fast connectivity to Oracle databases from Delphi IDE. It can be used as a replacement for default connectivity options provided by Delphi.
Drivers design is simple and minimalistic, which is the reason why it can provide such high performance, and also ease of deployment. It eliminates the need for having Oracle client installed, as it works with Oracle database
directly through TCP/IP protocol.
It does not depend on any other layers for data connectivity, such as ODBC, which is also the reason why it works faster than the default connectivity options provided by the development environment. And, if you need to track your queries, there is also an external solution available, called dbMonitor, which was designed for that purpose.
There a number of IDE's supported by the library, including Delphi, C++ Builder, RAD Studio and also FireMonkey platform. It works on both Windows and Mac OS X, and supports 32 and 64-bit architecture. Also, a number of Oracle servers are supported, including Oracle Express.
